East London, South Africa – 12 May 2020
Faith Cares, the humanitarian arm of Faith TV, has been a pillar of support to vulnerable communities for nearly 20 years. Through the distribution of food parcels, clothing, essential daily items, and even furniture when available, Faith Cares continues to bring hope where it’s needed most.
The COVID-19 pandemic has deeply impacted communities across the region. Not only have the unemployed been hit hard, but many individuals who previously earned a stable income have found themselves in desperate need of assistance.
On 7 April 2020, Faith Cares launched a large-scale food parcel distribution initiative, reaching hundreds of families with vital nutrition and care. The overwhelming need and success of this effort prompted an immediate response to do even more. In collaboration with Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM), and with the appropriate permits in place, Faith Cares organized a second major distribution from its head office in the CBD.
On Tuesday, 12 May, with the support of BCMM’s Security Cluster—including BCMM Law Enforcement, Traffic Services, and the South African Police Service—Faith Cares once again served hundreds of families in need. The entire operation adhered strictly to the Lockdown Regulations Framework, ensuring a safe and organized distribution process.
Ps Carl & Ronel Davis, managers of Faith Cares, shared their reflection on the day:
“The need had clearly grown since our last distribution, with people already queuing from 7:00 a.m. It was deeply moving to see the gratitude in their eyes. We serve in obedience to Hebrews 13:16: ‘Do not neglect to do good and to be generous, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.’ Our hope is to inspire others to join in uplifting their communities.”
Faith Cares extends heartfelt thanks to the BCMM Security Cluster for their partnership and commitment to order and safety, and to every recipient for their cooperation and dignity throughout the day.
Together, we can continue to be the hands and feet of compassion—bringing hope, help, and healing to those who need it most.
